More about strategy

Triathlon is running swimming and cycling. Regular triathlon starts with swimming then cycling and running is the last. I will start my longest tri with running. Running is difficult to do in the heat because I go slow and it is so slow that there is no air resistance to cool me down.Therefore  i start running when the weather is still cool. Then I will do the cycling part. When i start the cycling it will be warm in miami but I will go much faster and have better air resistance that will cool me down. I will end the attemt by swimming in a inside pool so heat is not an issue there. But If Guinnes gives me green light to do the longest duathlon too I will be doing my run during the hottest time of the year in miami.I have issues  taking good quality videos in the dark so I need to do my runs during the day. But lets see how it goes


Recovery

Because I dont take rest days the recovery must be during the night. There are few things I use to make my body recover faster. I use deep heat gel on my legs after the run and ride. It heats up the muscles. Usually I will take anti bloating medication like ibuprofen. If the feets are swollen it will make the swell better. Stretching too. 

 


media

Next weekend the Icelandic media will follow me. I dont expect usa and international media yet. I expect the big international media to kick in around 1 month into my attempt.


New record attempt

When I do my running I will run  just over half marathon per day.Yesterday I found out that there is a guinnes world record in doing as many half marathons as possible in one year. The existing record is 102 half marathons. I will do around 120 in the longest triathlon and duathlon so I applied for this record yesterday. Guinness takes 5 weeks to tell me if I am allowed to do this attempt. So I will be doing attempts on 3 world records.

- Longest triathlon 6649 km

- Longest duathlon 6449 km

-Most half marathons run in one year (male) 120

 

My legs are fresh and ready. My mind too so this will be fun

 

 


Last long run until the record attempt

Did half marathon today. Feeling fresh. Now my only activity next 3 days will be riding my bike short distances. Will do resting as I can and preparing my body for doing long distances per day every day for nearly 200 days.


Getting closer

Only few days until start. The weather forecast is good. The main thing when running is to stay away from injuries. I do that by stretching and using ice gel on my feets at the end of the day and cross my fingers. The run is nearly 3 months and 810 miles. 


Gopro technology

My activities last sometimes 7 hours. Even longer. My Gopro battery lasts for 2 hours so I use external power bank that lasts for much more than 10 hours. I have my camera on my head and the charging cable is from the camera on my head to the power bank in my jersey. To be able to charge while I do my activities I take the usb door off the video camera. This works great until it rains. In rain I need to put the door on the camera again to make it water proof. So when it rains I need to use the internal battery as much as I can and not using the power bank. And when I am out of power I put another internal battery in the camera.


Test day

Great test day today in good weather. Distance 20 km I am getting stronger. My body is going into my old form in this area. Talked to few cyclists from TSR at Starbucks. Met a  tri woman at Deering. Feeling reasonably fresh afterwards. That is a good sign.


tracking technology during the run

I have following technology on my run for tracking

Garmin edge 810.

Android phone with strava app. 

spot 3 satellite system. It is great for people to follow me live. It updates my location every 5 minutes. But it is not as good measuring the distance. Strava app and garmin are better for that.

 

 


the tri setup

my run will take 85 days starting 10 february and finishig end of april. I will write a diary each day with the title day x and then some info about distance and weather. and health
