Last long run until the record attempt

Did half marathon today. Feeling fresh. Now my only activity next 3 days will be riding my bike short distances. Will do resting as I can and preparing my body for doing long distances per day every day for nearly 200 days.


Getting closer

Only few days until start. The weather forecast is good. The main thing when running is to stay away from injuries. I do that by stretching and using ice gel on my feets at the end of the day and cross my fingers. The run is nearly 3 months and 810 miles. 


Gopro technology

My activities last sometimes 7 hours. Even longer. My Gopro battery lasts for 2 hours so I use external power bank that lasts for much more than 10 hours. I have my camera on my head and the charging cable is from the camera on my head to the power bank in my jersey. To be able to charge while I do my activities I take the usb door off the video camera. This works great until it rains. In rain I need to put the door on the camera again to make it water proof. So when it rains I need to use the internal battery as much as I can and not using the power bank. And when I am out of power I put another internal battery in the camera.


Test day

Great test day today in good weather. Distance 20 km I am getting stronger. My body is going into my old form in this area. Talked to few cyclists from TSR at Starbucks. Met a  tri woman at Deering. Feeling reasonably fresh afterwards. That is a good sign.


tracking technology during the run

I have following technology on my run for tracking

Garmin edge 810.

Android phone with strava app. 

spot 3 satellite system. It is great for people to follow me live. It updates my location every 5 minutes. But it is not as good measuring the distance. Strava app and garmin are better for that.

 

 


the tri setup

my run will take 85 days starting 10 february and finishig end of april. I will write a diary each day with the title day x and then some info about distance and weather. and health


1 week until start

Guinness has alot of rules. One of the rule for the longest triathlon is when I start I can not stop. I need to do the activity every day until finish.Because I will do a circle I need to finish at least 1 circle. That is what makes record like this difficult.  This is ok next 3 months but when I do my later running leg of my duathlon it will be hot in miami. I have not thouhgt it to the end but will probably need to do some of the running part during the night.


media strategy

My strategy will be to have small but good media coverage first 1 month. If the media like to speak to me during that time they are welcome but i will not use my PR company much the first month. At the end of the second month I will finish the running part and start the cycling. Then I will put the PR system in action. And the media coverage will increase from there to the finish. And then again after the 10 week period that Guinness takes to analyse my data giving me the certificate.


Why blogging?

One of the requirements from Guinness world record is to do a diary each day of the record attempt. This blog will be the diary that i will send to them.


Change of my thought process

I am now preparing for my record attempt. Buing stuff i need and i can not buy while I am on the road. 40 cases of water for example. My storage room is full of water cases now. I will use 1 bike for this record. i will use my spezialized shiv as my main bike. Then I will use trek 520 touring bike if I get some mechanical issues with the shiv. Then I will use a junk bike from amazon that I got 10 years ago if the other 2 will have a mechanical. i will pick up my treck today. Yesterday I was planning how to get there. Then i had idea. I just run to the bike shop. It is only 10 miles away. Then I ride back. So today my running training will be to get my bike and my riding training will be riding it back.
